Need another tune to remember the mean, mode, and median? This one is a little slower pace, but definitely helpful in remembering the difference between the three M's!

Mean, Median, and Mode
Some students have a difficult time remembering the difference between finding the mean, median, and mode. Here is a great song to help you remember! If you find one you like, share it in the comment section. Remember to always put the data set in order from least to greatest first!
Lyrics:
2x's
Mean, Median and Mode
C'mon everybody so here we go
The 3M's that you really need to know
the Mean, Median, and Mode, So.....
The Mean, the mean I mean mean the mean, I mean...
C'mon kids, it's really not so bad,
Grab your data numbers from the table and first
you start to add
When you finally have them added up,
then can you only divide
because this is how you find the mean, yes
the average number that's right.
Now that you found the average number
you see what I mean
ha ha, yeah yeah,
c'mon everybody just do it again please
add em up and then you divide, by the total number in the table that's right
add em up and then you divide, by the total number in the table that's right
Chorus 2X's
The Mode the Mode the mo, mode the mode, the mo mode the mode the mode, mode
M-O-D-E, it's the number with the highest frequency
it's the number that you will most often see.
C'mon everybody find the mode with me.
The Mode the Mode the mo, mode the mode, the mo mode the mode the mode, mode
M-O-D-E, it's the number with the highest frequency
it's the number that you will most often see.
C'mon everybody find the mode with me.
Chorus 2x's
For the third M, just think of a road
median, the number in the middle for sure
before you start driving for the median
take this one step before, before you begin
order order order order please
it's the one thing requested by mister c
it's like a little mathematics guarantee
making things so nice and so easy
take a step from side to side
only take one step at a time
you have the green light
it's your time to shine
one from the left and one from the right
take a step from side to side
only take one step at a time
you have the green light
it's your time to shine
one from the left and one from the right
Chorus 2x's

One of my favorite things...
A tidy and informational math journal! Today as I was walking around I noticed two impeccable math journals and had to snap a couple photos. Here they are!

Need some motivation?
I shared this with my kiddos mainly because it was a kid giving the speech with some wonderful ideas. They loved his sense of humor, but also his positive points. It was great to see the parts they took from it! One student in particular asked me to post. Here you go!

Mr. Duey- The amazing math rapper!
Have you checked out Mr. Duey yet? He has a great way to remember how to turn fractions into decimals, improper fractions into mixed numbers, and decimals to percents. Including music is a great way to remember math. He is a pretty awesome rapper as well!
Want to rap along? Here are the lyrics:
Want to rap along? Here are the lyrics:
Fraction Rap
Chorus
I’ll teach how to get rid of an improper fraction
Teach you how to get a percentage from a fraction
I’ll teach you everything you need to know about fractions
Fractions, what’s that? Lights, camera, action
I’ll teach you everything you need to know about fractions
Fractions, everything you need to know I’ll rap
I’ll teach you how to get rid of an improper fraction

Verse 1
Fractions, if it’s improper you have to change it into a mixed
number, I’ll be the one to explain it. Improper is when the top
number is bigger than the bottom so when you take the bottom fit
it into the top one. So say that the bottom is 3 and the top can be
17. How many times does 3 fit in between? Well let’s see, that’s
5 take the 5 write it down big on the line. With the 2 left over from
the 17 you must now put that 2 on top of the 3 and, wow, the
mixed number is found. It’s that easy, listen to the song and you
believe me, put your own numbers in the place of what I’m
teaching.

Verse 2
Fractions, I bet you wonder how to get a percentage, divide the
top by the bottom number. For example, 5 over 10. 10 can’t go
into 5 so add a zero to the 5 and begin. Because 10 can go into
to 50 just fine, but you need a decimal point before the number of
times. So I, I guess we’re left with ‘.5’. Now take the point by the
5, move it 2 to the right and what you have is 50 so it’s 50
percent. When Mr. Duey takes you through it then it all makes
sense. It’s that easy, listen to the song and you believe me, put
your own numbers in the place of what I’m teaching.

Conversion Rap
In math we have been working really hard converting different units within the same system. For example, gallons to pints, liters to milliliters, inches to feet, etc. Part of the way we remember the process of converting is with our "Conversion Rap!" Here are the lyrics and sound clip to practice at home.

What are some ways you remember how to convert units?
